Ija Myrock. Why is that? The story of the white crow

18.12.2015

A good practical guide to combating school bullying, written for children by a child who has coped with it.

Thousands of children and teenagers suffer silently because they are bullied by their classmates. Often, even parents and school psychologists can't help. But this book was not written by an expert; it was written by a simple girl who went through school bullying and managed, against all odds, to make a good career and achieve success doing what she loved. However, a professional psychologist, teachers, and parents helped Aija in the process of preparing the book.

Ija came to an important conclusion: being bullied isn't your fault, but it's your problem. And don't expect a superman savior around the corner, ready to help with this problem. Ija managed to escape on her own — and she'll help you do the same.

With every chapter of this book, with every step you take, you'll get closer to your new self:

  • You will understand that you are a normal person and a unique person;
  • You will learn to accept yourself as you are;
  • You will start dreaming about what you want to achieve in life;
  • You will take your fear for granted and become stronger;
  • You will draw up an action plan for every occasion — both at school and outside it;
  • You will learn how to ensure your safety on the Internet;
  • You will regain your joy of life and express yourself in the way you feel comfortable and how you want.

And then one day it dawned on me: I needed to compile a small but clear collection of tips for all occasions. After all, school bullies can cling everywhere — in the gym, in the locker room, in the dining room, in the classroom, in the hallway. Let their victims have some guidance, or at least just a book that will cheer them up and cheer them up a little. A book that will help you get out into the world, stop hiding and huddling in a corner. A book that will become a survival guide, a friendly parting word.

This book is my gift to you. All tips and tricks are based on my own hard experience, and are collected with the participation of school teachers, psychologists, parents and children who have also been bullied in the classroom.

Let this book open a new page in your life!

I suggest considering Maya Ganina's children's novel “Tyapkin and Lyosha” as a “prequel” to Lyudmila Petrushevskaya's novel “Time is Night” or a “prequel” to our current life and some of the peculiarities of our “interpersonal communication”.

Guus Keier, The Book of All Things
Marina Melnikova's review of the “Samokat” book “The Book of All Things” by Guus Kuyer (2018) It's a very very cool book; I can't even call it a children's book. Not so long ago, I realized that the division into children's and non-children's books is somehow wrong. Good books, films, and plays range from a certain age to a hundred years, or longer, whoever gets lucky. I've seen such people more and more often lately: Miss Charity, The Jellyfish Report, Alice in Wonderland translated by Yevgeny Klyuev, Waffle Heart, and even The Fox and the Bunny. So, of course, I had seen such books before, but I didn't understand it, I thought they stayed when I was a child, books that I had once read a hundred times...
